Our Mission and Vision

Empowering Our Community

In the heart of Wakulla and Leon County, a seed of compassion was sown. Wakulla Giving Hands, Inc., a non-profit born in November 2023, emerged from a deep-seated desire to uplift the less fortunate – our seniors, our children, our families.

The Why: A Community in Need

The founders, Casey Kimbrell and Christell Wood, witnessed firsthand the struggles within their community. Seniors choosing between food and medicine, children going to school with empty stomachs, and families facing impossible choices. These realities fueled their determination to make a difference. It started with a simple act of kindness, a neighbor helping a neighbor, and quickly grew into something much larger.

From Yards to a Building: The Humble Beginning

The early days were humble. Casey and Christell opened their hearts and their yards, collecting and distributing essential items. Word spread like wildfire, and soon, donations poured in from all corners of Wakulla and Leon County. Neighbors, friends, and even strangers rallied around the cause. This outpouring of support underscored the community's shared desire to help those in need. In May 2024, Wakulla Giving Hands received the blessing of a building – a testament to their hard work and the community's unwavering belief in their mission.

The Mission: More Than Just Giving

Wakulla Giving Hands is more than just a charity; it's a movement. Their mission is to unite communities by providing food, personal hygiene products, clothing, and toys to those who need them most. But beyond the tangible items, they offer something even more valuable: hope. They strive to show those struggling that they are not alone, that their community cares, and that a brighter future is possible.

Programs that Make a Difference

Wakulla Giving Hands has developed targeted programs to address specific needs within the community:

C.A.R.E.S (Children Assistance Resources Essentials Support): This program focuses on providing children with the resources they need to thrive, including food, clothing, and toys.

H.A.N.D.S (Helping All Neighbors Delivery Service): This program offers support to seniors, ensuring they have access to nutritious food, personal hygiene products, and other essentials.

Summer Smiles, Halloween, and Christmas Event: The Summer Smiles, Halloween, and Christmas Event is a vibrant initiative by Wakulla Giving Hands designed to bring joy and relief to families during key times of the year. These events are more than just occasions for distributing essentials; they are carefully curated experiences that aim to create lasting memories and foster a deeper sense of community.

The Impact: Numbers and Hearts

The numbers speak volumes. Wakulla Giving Hands has impacted over 300,000 individuals and organized events for over 3,000 people to date. But the true impact lies in the stories of those they've helped. The single mother who can now afford to keep the lights on, the senior who no longer has to choose between food and medication, the child who receives a Christmas toy that brings pure joy to their face. These are the moments that fuel Wakulla Giving Hands and inspire them to keep going.

Community Support: The Foundation of Success

The success of Wakulla Giving Hands is a direct result of the incredible support they receive from the communities. Local businesses, churches, schools, and individuals have all stepped up to contribute their time, resources, and talents. This collaborative spirit is the lifeblood of the organization, proving that when people come together with a common goal, anything is possible.

Looking Ahead: A Future of Hope

Wakulla Giving Hands is committed to continuing their work and expanding their reach. They envision a future where no one in the United States goes hungry, where every child has the opportunity to succeed, and where every senior can live with dignity and respect. Their story is a testament to the power of compassion, the strength of community, and the unwavering belief that together, we can make a difference.

We have seen the struggles that many are going through and many members themselves, have been there and know how it feels not to know, where you may get some food for your family, or may not be able to afford personal hygiene products or clothing for their children or themselves.
