The C.A.R.E.S. (Children Assistance Resources Essentials Support) program, run by Wakulla Giving Hands, is dedicated to supporting the well-being of children from birth to 18 years old. We strive to provide essential resources and create positive experiences for our youth.
Our Programs & Events
C.A.R.E.S. organizes a variety of events throughout the year to support children and families. These events are designed to provide enriching experiences and essential resources. From summer fun to holiday cheer, we aim to create memorable moments for the children we serve. Our summer feeding program is a cornerstone initiative, combating food insecurity during the months when school is out. We believe that every child deserves access to nutritious meals, and we are committed to making that a reality.

Supporting Education and Well-being
C.A.R.E.S. goes beyond events to support the ongoing needs of students. We provide nutritious food to Wakulla High School Culinary students, empowering them to learn to cook and eat healthy. This initiative not only enhances their culinary skills but also promotes healthy eating habits for life. In addition, we supply the Angel Closet with essential items such as protein bars, female products, and hygiene items. The Angel Closet provides a discreet and accessible resource for students in need, ensuring they have access to basic necessities.
The Wakulla Giving Hands C.A.R.E.S. program is a comprehensive initiative dedicated to supporting the children. Through events, educational support, and essential resource provision, C.A.R.E.S. strives to create a brighter future for our youth. Your support can help us continue to make a positive impact on the lives of children in our community.
The H.A.N.D.S. (Helping All Neighbors Delivery Service) program is a crucial service dedicated to supporting homebound seniors in our community. Recognizing that transportation limitations can prevent seniors from accessing essential groceries and supplies, H.A.N.D.S. bridges the gap, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
Serving over 65 seniors, the program relies on a dedicated network of volunteers who work tirelessly to prepare, package, and deliver essential items directly to the seniors' homes. This volunteer-driven model ensures that seniors receive not only groceries but also a vital connection to the community.
More Than Just Deliveries
H.A.N.D.S. goes beyond simply providing groceries. Our volunteers understand the importance of social interaction and companionship. Each delivery offers a valuable opportunity for seniors to connect with others, combatting feelings of isolation and loneliness. These weekly visits provide a sense of community and belonging that is essential for their well-being. The program has been recognised as being vital to homebound residents.
The Power of Teamwork
The success of H.A.N.D.S. depends on the collaborative efforts of our amazing volunteers:
Preparation Team: Volunteers carefully prepare and bag groceries and essential supplies, ensuring each delivery meets the unique needs of the senior it's intended for.
Delivery Drivers: Our drivers are the friendly faces who bring the deliveries directly to the seniors' homes. They also provide a friendly ear and much-needed conversation.
This teamwork is what makes the program so impactful, allowing us to extend the reach of the service and help as many seniors as possible.
Impact and Importance
H.A.N.D.S. serves as a genuine lifeline for many seniors in our community. By providing access to groceries and essentials, the program enables them to maintain their independence and remain in the comfort of their own homes. The program's focus on companionship and social interaction addresses the issue of senior isolation, improving overall quality of life and promoting mental well-being. It's a testament to what a community can achieve when it comes together to support its most vulnerable members.
